play list: may 2018
For the second edition of our play list, Olivia and I wrote some questions that, maybe even more than what media we’re consuming, help paint a picture of who each of us is. A little, anyway.
Here’s a breakdown of some of our team’s answers:
What's your favorite food?
Chase:
My favorite food is the hoisin tofu banh mi from Coriander Cafe. I usually have double jalapeños on mine because my family picks theirs off.
Jordan:
Cheese and pineapple pizza (occasionally with black olives).
Kevin:
Buffalo rib eye, straight out of the smoker.
Sarah:
Fried chicken. Say what you will, but to me there is no better comfort food. I could eat it anytime anywhere, but thankfully for my health I show some restraint.
Micah:
I love good home cooking. I come from a family with a ton of good cooks…probably why I like to eat so much. My favorite meal is a casserole my mom makes, Cajun beans and rice. When my mom really wants me to spend the weekend at their place, she just has to say she's making it, and I'm there. My wife makes it pretty well too. They both ask me who makes it better, but can I honestly answer that?
Who was your childhood celebrity crush (or your current one)?
Chase:
My first and biggest celebrity crush was Audrey Tautou. I was 18 when Amelie came out and completely fell in love. Nowadays I lean more toward Sarah Silverman, whom my wife and I both fell in love with.
Jordan:
Sean Connery.
Olivia:
Robin Williams. He was in all my favorite movies, and he’s hilarious.
Becky:
Taylor Hanson. (Bulletin: still Taylor Hanson.)
Kevin:
Bo Derek. And you know what? I just Googled her, and I stand by my response.
What's the last thing you bought a ticket to see?
Becky:
The National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel, in Memphis.
Olivia:
Vince Staples concert at The Jones Assembly. I had been there for dinner but never for a concert. It was a top-notch concert venue, and Vince was super energetic.
Sarah:
Black Panther! I do love some superhero blockbusters, and this one was probably one of my favorites in the genre so far.
Micah:
Just recently got tickets to see Hall & Oates with Train. My wife and I really enjoy going to concerts. She’s seen Hall & Oates already, but now I'm going to get to see them. Can’t wait!
Chase:
The last thing I bought a ticket for was the Dust Bowl Dolls burlesque show at Resonator. One of the dancers slapped me in the face.
What's one thing on your bucket list that you've already done? And one that you haven't done yet?
Becky:
I have seen the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. I have NOT hugged a penguin yet, so let me know if you have an in for that sort of thing.
Kevin:
Visiting my birthplace of Guam. Best two weeks of my life, made possible by my family and coworkers, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I haven’t yet gone hang gliding, but trust me, I will.
Olivia:
I have been to France. I have not yet been to Japan
Jordan:
My bucket list consists of one thing...petting/holding a platypus. I have not had the opportunity to do that yet.
Micah:
Well the one bucket list item I've done already was going to a Journey concert. I love classic rock, and Journey is one of my favorite bands. They didn't disappoint.
Choose one of these quizzes, and let us know who you got:
Which Seinfeld Character Are You?
Which Parks and Recreation Character Are You?
Chase:
I'm Jean-Ralphio from Parks and Rec I guess... I haven't seen that show. I'd rather be Special Agent Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks.
Jordan:
Ron Swanson, George Costanza.
Sarah:
I got Ron Swanson...should I be proud or worried?
Olivia:
I got Jerry the first time I took the Parks and Rec quiz, and I felt deeply understood.
Becky:
I’m Donna, and I’m also the Soup Nazi. Make of that what you will.
Kevin:
Donna Meagle. Apparently I’m strong, bold, and beautiful. And Jerry Seinfeld. What’s the deal with…
Micah:
I got Ben Wyatt! Makes sense: I am a nerd, and OMG I do have a thing for calzones. I just had one yesterday.
